A Week in Review

What a week! So much has happened that I haven't had time to get on here and post like I wanted to so I'm going to do a "quick" recap. Starting with last Saturday, we had a bunch of young men and women come over and they washed Burwell (our dog), took him for a walk, and totally washed & cleaned our Explorer!! Brennen just had to help and he grabbed a sponge and towel and followed the older boys lead! He was so proud of himself!

Later that day I decided that I had had enough of Brennen's shaggy look and finally broke out the new clippers I bought. The new clippers worked so well that I ended up cutting more off then I had planned, I just wasn't use to such sharp clippers! It also didn't help that Brennen kept moving all over the place and I accidently cut alittle more on one side and then on the other side and alittle in the back... so, B ended up with one motivated haircut and is back to being our little Marine! :)

One of the ways I got Brennen to sit still long enough for me to cut his hair was by the promise of a lolipop. He was so excited to get a lolipop that he ran around the house like a little crazy man! He ran up the stairs and gave me this huge roar (a new favorite pasttime) and this is him gearing up for the great big roar and then unleashing it for all to hear! He is just too funny!
While I was getting ready one morning this week, I wasn't paying close attention to Brennen. I had Disney on the TV in my room and hoped that it would keep Brennen entertained till I was done. Silly me!! I looked out around the corner from my bathroom to see what all the noise was about and there's Brennen in his old exersaucer! I was shocked to see how big Brennen was in it. I know he's gotten bigger and that he's older and all, but it really does seem like a month ago he was just my little baby boy...
This post seems to be all about Brennen, so I thought I'd throw in a cute pic of Lindie! All smiles with three teeth in and two more cutting through! Poor thing has been in so much pain with three of her teeth coming in in just the past couple of days.
Many of you are probably wondering how the move is going and for many of you who I have talked to, you know that I've been having a really hard time trying to get things packed. I've tried to pack when the kids were up, but that didn't work because Brennen wanted to pull everything out or do all the packing himself and Lindie wanted me to hold her the whole time. So, I tried waiting till their afternoon nap or bedtime, thinking I should get a ton done- nope, packing seems to be alittle too loud to get much done and I have only been able to pack one or two boxes in that 2 hour slot in the afternoon. And at bedtime, I'm just so drained from taking care of the kids that I end up vegging in front of the TV eating cookies. Since I wasn't getting much accomplished I tried to distract Brennen with some of my hair accesories so I could pack Scott's stuff in our closet. Brennen was ok at first but kept getting into my make-up, so I gave in and let him play with some old stuff that I know I'll never use, and this is what happened:Once he got himself all painted up, he ran around like he was a Maori Warrior and roared at himself in the mirror! I wish I had gotten it on video! Check out his facial expressions in the mirror!
Ahh, the wonderful gift of a child's curiosity. I stuck a small shiny sticker on Lindie's hand and she was totally entertained for a solid 15 mins! I was able to unload laundry, fix dinner, change Brennen's diaper, and load some dishes all in that small amount of time!! And I doubt she even noticed how many times I left the room! :)
Oh, and did I mention that Brennen also swallowed a nickel? Yeah, Sunday afternoon, right before his nap. He was up out of bed, playing around. I charged into his room to yell at him to get back in bed and startled him. He started choking so I ran over and hit him on his back alittle and he swallowed! I asked him what he swallowed and he said "Eh-kal". I couldn't believe it, but he just smiled super big and started running around chanting "Eh-kal, Eh-kal". Yet again, something he was just so proud of himself for doing. I took him in on Thursday to get an x-ray and thankfully he was all clear with no sign of the nickel! So, we now have another fun story to tell of our little crazy man.
